It was indeed a time that saw great changes, in Britain and elsewhere. Not for the better, as has been shown to us time after time since. Maggie & Ronnie were only warming up at that stage.
Looking forward to reading part two. Thanks Jonathan.
Maggie and Ronnie, the godparents to Little Donny and Elon. A more dreadful pair was hard to imagine until these two appeared on the scene. I despair really.
Thanks so much for reading and ´commenting Kevin, I really appreciate it pal :)
Your story had just reached the point where I emigrated to London. An economic refugee from an Ireland that was decimated by unemployment due to American corporations relocating to cheaper labour climes. Maggie was getting down to the business of deregulation of the free market, aided and abetted by Ronnie. If only I knew what I was letting myself in for!! Haha!
I would have been one of those. Anything was better than the oppressive poverty of Ireland at the time!! It was rough man. When I see little bits footage of the news casts from that period, it’s like looking at some country stuck on the wrong side of the wall that the USSR had constructed! Right down to the colours of the old cars. Bitter chocolate and dusty orange were all the rage. That went for the clothes we wore an all! Haha. Hitting Portebello market after escaping from here was like going to a different planet. I loved every minute of it. Every day was an adventure for this teenager!
Moving and revealing the way a writer ought to write!
That's a wonderful thing to say :) thanks Mary
Beautifully written Jonathan, please continue to weave your story into words. I look forward to many more chapters xxx
Strong & powerful, Jonathan. I’m looking forward to reading Part 2.
That last line... Damn. This is powerful stuff. Thank you.
Very good, clear, and consistent. I got every word. thanks. Look forward to next week.

If only we all did! Bet some people would go for the madness anyway!
