Brilliant, unnerving. AI is pure and emotionless. The question is whether the world would be a better place run by bots than us humans. Excuse me while I go and slit my throat
Thanks Mike. I thought I'd answer quick before any throats get slit ;)
Even though this short story is pretty bleak I'd always prefer humans to bots, 100%. Love is the decider. We humans create systems that crush love, but the potential is there to create systems that enhance it. Bots, I don't think so :)
I felt it was also a great metaphor of what the internet is slowly becoming, just a bunch of bots generating and commenting on content with nary a human to be found.
I read a great essay on here the other day about how at some point the whole gaze, locked on our phones, for hours and hours, will come to pass, I hope.
That’s exactly the thing isn’t it? This colonisation of all human relations by not only tech, but also tech/market values.
Bots generating and commenting on content is so ludicrous, as is inserting the phone or some platform into every single social moment, as if without the digital eye always watching, no one really exists.
It’s the helpless (and enthusiastic) acquiescence that floors me. Like, what idiot new tech intervention won’t we accept and applaud?
Brings us back to that Luddite essay from before.
Anyway, thanks for reading Leon. I really appreciate it :)

Haha this is awesome. Good stuff, thank you!
Kinda funny and depressing at the same time. Maybe I should write some tragic comedies :)
